Delhi High Court goes paperless!!!

The effort of making judicial proceedings go paperless materialized when the notification regarding e-filing of documents for litigants was issued by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi on October 23, 2013.

Marking the first of its kind initiative in the country, the e-filing system shall be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. Sathasivam, the Chief Justice of India, on October 25, 2013 at 1700 hours. However, the e-filing of cases in the Delhi High Court will be only in respect of the Company and Tax jurisdiction sand shall take place at the e-filing Centre, Room No.4, Ground Floor, Lawyers’ Chambers Block-I, Delhi High Court. The advocates or litigants will be required to bring their petitions or documents in a soft copy in a PDF format at the aforementioned e-filing centre set up in the court.

The entire system has been developed under the supervision of the Computer Committee headed by Justice B. D. Ahmed and including Justice S. Murlidhar, Justice V. K. Jain, Justice Vibhu Bakhru, and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and is expected to improve transparency, let down adjournments, allow immediate access to information, and cut down time spent on litigation.
