National IPR Policy comments invited by DIPP
On November 13, 2014, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has issued a public notice with respect to draft on National Intellectual Property Rights Policy.
The said notice outlines the composition of six- member expert panel constituted by DIPP for drafting the National IPR Policy and for advising DIPP on IPR issues.
The six- member panel consists of Justice (Retd.) Prabha Sridevan, Chairperson, Pratibha M Singh, Senior Advocate, member, Punita Bhargava, Advocate, Inventure IP, member, Dr Unnat Pandit, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, member, Rajeev Srinivasan, Director, Asian School of Business, Thiruvananthapuram, member and Narendra K Sabarwal, Retired DDG, WIPO, member and convener.
By way of the notice, DIPP has invited comments from interested persons with respect to National IPR Policy so that they can be taken into consideration by IPR Think Tank.

As enumerated by DIPP, various terms of reference include identification of areas in IPR where study needs to be conducted, to provide possible implications of demands placed by negotiating partner countries, to keep the Government informed about recent developments taking place in IPR cases, to prepare periodic reports on best practice followed in foreign countries, to highlight anomalies in the present IPR legislations and to advice possible solutions to the Ministry, to give suggestions on the steps that may be taken for improving infrastructure in IP offices and Tribunals and to examine the current issues raised by industry associations and those that may have appeared in media and to give suggestions to the Ministry on such issues.
