S.S. Rana & Co. had the privilege of conducting a training and sensitization programme on “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013” also known as the POSH Act” at the prestigious Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) in Jammu. It was one amongst the few Workshops that have been conducted in the region. among one of the few POSH Workshops conducted in the region.The workshop was organized by FICCI FLO-Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, in collaboration with MIET, Jammu.
Ms. Monika Kohli, the Senior Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir graced the session by her esteemed presence as the Chief Guest. Ms. Kohli beautifully elaborated the challenges that a woman faces in her career and in life. She also shared some captivating stories that were truly inspirational for all and highlighted the critical role played by organizations in creating safe workplaces.
Ms. Anuradha Gandhi, Managing Associate accompanied by Ms. Isha Sharma, Associate at S.S. Rana & Co. delved deep into the behavioral aspects of POSH law, offering a comprehensive understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment with real-life scenarios. The session was attended by the studentsof MIET, faculty members along with the members of the FICCI FLO-Jammu.
With the ever evolving dynamics of workplaces, organizing such workshops has travelled beyond mere compliances and has become a moral imperative as well. It was truly heartwarming to witness the active engagement of both male and female students during the elegant session. Mr. Vikrant Rana, Managing Partner at S.S. Rana & Co., was appointed as the Professor of Practice by Law College Dehradun – India, Uttaranchal University on June 09, 2023.
The appointment is in pursuance of a resolution passed by the Academic Council of the University to appoint eminent lawyers and retired judicial officers as ‘Professor of Practice’.
The objective of introducing Professor of Practice in India is to enhance the quality of higher education by bringing practitioners, policymakers, skilled professionals etc. in to higher education system.
The initiative is a commendable one and it is expected that this academia and industry tie-up will prove to be immensely beneficial for law students and prepare them for their legal accomplishments in a holistic manner.
