Court Fees / Official Fees for Consumer Case In India:

The court fees for filing a consumer complaint in India is given below:

  • District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is upto 1 Lakh rupees – for complainants who are under the below poverty line holding Antyodaya Anna Yojna Cards no court fee is required to be paid
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is upto 1 lakh rupees – for complainants other than Antyodaya Anna Yojna Card holders the applicable court fee is INR 100
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 1 lakh- upto 5 lakh rupees the applicable court fee is INR 200
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 5 lakh- upto 10 lakh rupees the applicable court fee is INR 400
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 10 lakh- upto 20 lakh rupees the applicable court fee is INR 500
  • State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 20 lakh- upto 50 lakh rupees the applicable court fee is INR 2000
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 50 lakh- upto 1 Crore rupees the applicable court fee is INR 4000
  • National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
    • If the total value of goods and services claimed is above 1 Crore rupees the applicable court fee is INR 5000

Time Period Within which the Consumer Dispute should be disposed of

Every Complaint shall be heard as expeditiously as possible and endeavor shall be made to decide the Complaint within a period of 3 months from the date of receipt of notice by Opposite Party where the Complaint does not require analysis or testing of commodities and within 5 months if it requires analysis of testing the commodities, provided that no adjournment shall be ordinarily granted by the District Forum unless sufficient cause is shown and the reason for grant of adjournment have been recorded.

In case of Appeal, the same shall also be disposed of within a period of 3 months from the date of its admission.
