Flood Situation affects Chennai Patent Office

Due to flood situation in Chennai, the functioning of the Indian Patent Office, Chennai has been affected. The Controller General has been requested by applicants/agents/stakeholders to make alternative arrangements for payment of fees and submission of applications and other statutory documents which may be required to be filed within the specified time as per Indian Patents Act 1970. It is necessary to ensure that the priority is not lost and the applications/ documents do not suffer from legal infirmity due to non-submission of documents in stipulated time.

The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks by virtue of powers vested in him under the Patents Act, has now authorized Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata Patent Offices to accept documents and payments of fees on behalf of Chennai Patent Office for the period from December 03, 2015 to December 07, 2015 or till restoration of normal functioning of the Chennai Patent Office, whichever is earlier, and transmit the same to Chennai office in due course.
