On March 11, 2015 the CGPDTM (Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks) launched the facility of online filing for registration of Geographical Indications (GI) in India. The notice provides that an application for registration of a GI can be submitted online at the portal https://ipindia.gov.in/index.htm or www.ipnindia.nic.in. For the purpose of filing GI applications comprehensive payment gateway comprising of net banking, debit cards, ATM cards and credit cards can be used for payment. The users can also use their digital signatures (used for online filing of patents and trademarks) for login and authentication into the e-filing system of GI applications.
