Mr. Vikrant Rana, Managing Partner at S.S. Rana & Co., was invited for an Interactive Dialogue on “India’s Intellectual Property Ecosystem” organized by the DST-Centre for Policy Research at Panjab University. This valuable program brought together esteemed speakers and panelists to discuss crucial aspects of fostering innovation in higher education institutions (HEIs).
The session started with a warm welcome address by Prof Kashmir Singh Sir, Co-ordinator, DST-CPR, Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed by inaugural addresses by Dr Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, PIC-cum-TISC, PSCST, Chandigarh, Dr. Pushpindra Rai (IAS Retired), Former Director, World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO.
Mr. Rana served as a Chair for the panel discussion on “Challenges and solutions for translating innovations from lab to market and best practices followed across the globe”, wherein the panelists Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist, HSCST, Haryana, Dr. Sukhjinder Singh, Sr. scientist and Co-ordinator, Dr. Radhika Trikha, CEO, AWaDH, IIT Ropar, Ms. Reema Sahni Mediratta RTTP, Patent and Trademark Agent, Danida Fellow, Prof. Jyoti Rattan shared their enriching ideas and highlighted the challenges being faced by HEIs in the realm of IP.
Mr. Rana also presented on the subject of Strengthening Intellectual Property Regime in HEIs, wherein Mr. Rana focused on the critical role of intellectual property (IP) for HEIs, the challenges they face in effectively managing and commercializing IP, and best practices from around the world for strengthening their IP regimes.
