This year’s theme, “Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity”, celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of women, who re the driving change in our world and shaping our common future. (Quote from WIPO)
This day is observed annually on April 26. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to “raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life” and “to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe“. April 26 was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.
Every April 26, we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to learn about the role that Intellectual Property Rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
To celebrate this day, SSRana & Co., organized an event where our members participated in exciting games & activities with some friendly competition on the eve of World IP Day, which is being organized as part of our commitment to employee engagement.
Apart from in-house activities within the Firm we also celebrated this day through our trust, Vidya Darshan Rana Charitable Trust, and organized Script it!™, the 7th Annual Essay Writing Competition to give young students an opportunity to understand the role played by Intellectual Property Rights and raise awareness on IP Rights in India. The competition intended to provide a platform to students to share their views and enabled them as well as their schools and/or colleges in getting National and International recognition.
