BIS quality check of solar cells & solar modules
Bureau of Indian Standards (‘BIS’) is a regulatory body operating under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. The purpose of establishing this regulatory body was for the development of activities pertaining to standardisation, marking and quality certification of goods. BIS is involved in various activities including but not limited to standards formulation, certification of products, hallmarking, testing and more.
The goods listed in the Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017 are covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme. The aforementioned order has been issued with a view to ensure quality of solar cells, solar modules used in PV power plants and modules with applicable standards and testing requirements. The list of such goods is mentioned in the table below:
