Taxpayers namely individuals, including salaried taxpayers, and entities who do not need to get their accounts audited, were required to file their income tax returns by or before July 31, 2019.
It has been reported that taxpayers have been facing multiple issues in filing their Income Tax returns one of them being the delay in the issuance of Form 16 for Assessment Year 2019-20.
It is on this account that the Central Board of Direct Taxes in accordance with the powers conferred as per Section 119 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 has issued an order vide F.No. 225/157/2019/ITA.II dated 23 July 2019 extending the deadline for filing Income Tax returns for Assessment Year 2019-20 by one month from July 31, 2019 to August 2019.
This extension is applicable for taxpayers who are not mandatorily required to get their accounts audited for tax purposes.
With the extension of the deadline for filing the Income Tax returns, the taxpayers will have more time to file their Income Tax returns without worrying about the penalty for late filing.
