Intellectual Property Office (IPO, Pakistan) has officially announced the establishment of Rawalpindi and Quetta IP Tribunal. The primary objective of the newly established Intellectual Property Tribunal is to:
- protect manufacturers rights.
- address cases involving copyright violations of various goods, including medicines, food products, and consumer items of all kinds.
- facilitate swift resolution of copyright infringement cases.
Pakistan now has five (5) Intellectual Property Tribunals namely Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Quetta.
The new Intellectual Property Tribunals in Rawalpindi and Quetta signify a substantial development in the protection of Intellectual Property Rights within the Intellectual Property Sphere in Pakistan. The recent development also demonstrates the commitment of IPO-Pakistan to strengthen and extend the scope of Intellectual Property Rights protection across diverse regions of the country.
