Comments invited on Draft notification on Normally Traded Commodities

The Central Government, in consultation with the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), by notification declared that the provisions of Biological Diversity Act 2002 shall not applicable to the list of 426 species / biological resources/ items covered under the notification, provided that they are traded as commodities and subject to certain terms. The source of the biological resource (cultivated/wild) and the part being traded as commodity along with other details is required to be declared by the trader/exporter as per a self-declaration form and shall be submitted to the National Biodiversity Authority.

The said notification has been drafted by NBA on Normally Traded Commodities under Section 40 of the Biological Diversity Act 2002.

The comments/suggestions from pubic are invited on the draft notification which should reach the National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai on or before August 29, 2015.
