The Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks has notified that the much awaited Patent Agent Examination is likely to be held before December, 2016. The Indian Patent Office is yet to schedule the date for the exam. Since 2013, the Indian Patent Office has not conducted the Patent Agent Examination. The said examination has been conducted since the year 2000 till 2013, except in the years 2009 and 2012. In the years 2007 and 2008, the exams were held bi-annually.
In the last qualifying examination for Patent Agents held on 4th and 5th May 2013, the pass percentage of exam was approximately around 25% with 6.5% increase as compared to the exam held in 2011. Out of 1829 candidates only 457 passed the exam. So this is the Golden opportunity for all those who are working in this field and eagerly waiting for the exams.
