“We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge: so many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster preparedness”……Petra Nemcova
Disappointment and sorrow inundated our hearts and souls when earthquake hit Nepal and Northern India on April 25. Recent reports from the UN indicate that approximately eight million people in 39 districts have been affected in Nepal by the lethal natural calamity.
Reportedly, on Saturday morning a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal. The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Gorkha district of Nepal. Tremors of the earthquake were also felt in the northern part of India including Delhi NCR, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. In India, at least 66 people have lost their lives due to earthquake. The Indian government immediately took action by sending rescue and relief teams and evacuating persons from Nepal.
S.S. Rana & Co. is deeply saddened by the loss of lives in Nepal and extends condolence to those who lost their loved ones, have been displaced and grievously injured in the earthquake.
We appeal the general public to extend a helping hand to the victims of earthquake. There are various charities and NGOs that are working for the noble cause who can be contacted for contributing towards the relief of those affected.
