Trademark Registry adjourned hearings till April 15, 2020 in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak

With the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases swelling up in the country, various government bodies are taking stringent steps and intensifying the fight against the virus.

Vide a public notice dated March 16, 2020, the Trademark Registry adjourned that all hearings relating to trademarks matters scheduled between March 17, 2020 to April 15, 2020. It has been further notified that the matters will be rescheduled in due course of time and the hearings scheduled after April 15, 2020 will remain as it is.

This important step has been taken by the registry in view of advisory issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the corona virus concerned raised by stakeholders.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic and subsequently many government organizations and bodies have issued advisories and notices in an attempt to contain the virus.
