Intellectual Property Office Of India Inaugurates New Building At Indian Patent Office

A new milestone has been added to the Intellectual Property Offices(IPO) of India with the inauguration of International Searching Authority/International Preliminary Examining Authority(ISA/IPEA) building on 8th September, 2014 by Shri Amitabh Kant, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion held at Boudhik Sampada Bhawan, New Delhi. The building is constructed under 11th plan scheme ‘Modernization and Strengthening of Intellectual Property Offices’ by National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).
The building provides adequate space and facilities for proper management of ISA/IPEA operations. The building has a dedicated Public facilitation centre, record rooms, state-of-the-art training hall and spacious libraries for Patents and Trademarks with public search connectivity. It also has a Hall of Fame where notable products protected by Intellectual Property rights are showcased ISA/IPEA]

Inauguration Highlights:

  • Launch of comprehensive e-filing payment gateway service

The new comprehensive payment gateway enables applicants/stakeholders to make payments using internet banking, credit cards or debit cards of more than 70 banks. It is expected that the given facility would further increase online filings of the patent applications or other related forms. With this launch, IPO became the first organization in the Government sector to enable internet banking, credit card and debit card payment facility simultaneously through its integrated payment gateway.

  • Launch of ‘Stock and Flow’ facility for Patents

This launch has made IPO the first among Intellectual Property Offices across the world to achieve ultimate transparency in the work done. The facility fetches data in real-time and presents a snapshot of current pendency, processing and disposal of entire Patent Office at a glance. This facility already exists for Trademarks and now has been extended to Patents as well. [Stock and Flow]
