After the breakthrough judgment by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in 2019, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was set up by the Government of India, to construct the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi. The said trust launched its door-to-door donation drive known as the ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan’ for construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya in the month of January, 2021. According to Shri Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Trust, the door-to-door drive has ended and a donation of around Rs. 25,000 Crores has been collected till March, 04, 2021.
Fraudulent Donation Scam in the name of Ram Janmbhoomi
However, the donation drive has not been all smooth so to say, there have been many instances wherein the general public has been defrauded by persons who are pretending to be Karyakartas of the Trust. Shri Champat Rai, has recently spoken on this issue and advised the public needs to be more vigilant and not become prey to such hoaxers. It was informed the workers of the trust are going door to door and after receiving a donation, they are issuing standard receipts of either Rs. 10, Rs. 100 or Rs. 1000 in favour of the donor.
Shri Champat Rai himself informed that several FIR’s has been registered across the country including in Ayodhya and Mumbai against fraudsters, who have looted people of their money, which was donated in good faith.
As per reports, in last week of January, when activists of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) were collecting donation in Bhopal, M.P., they came across people, who had already donated and receipts were issued in their favor. In light of the same, FIR’s were registered for the same in Bhopal. The Bhopal police was also able to arrest an accused for forgery and cheating who had printed a booklet for issuing donation receipts, which matched the original ones. Also, many fake UPI’s have been circulating upon the internet for donation purposes. Similar instances have occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, where some fraudsters were arrested, just before starting their fund collection drive.
