Advising very different clients. For global corporations, he says the focus is on managing large portfolios, aligning protection across jurisdictions and matching enforcement to business goals, while for grassroots innovators the priority is awareness and access, especially for innovations rooted in tradition and local ingenuity.
The SIPP scheme. He describes the Start-ups Intellectual Property Protection scheme as a turning point that made IP protection accessible to start-ups that once found it complex or unaffordable, and credits it with shifting the mindset from filing only when needed to “protect from the start”.
IP enforcement in India. He notes that commercial courts, IP Divisions in High Courts and dynamic injunctions have strengthened enforcement, particularly against digital infringement and counterfeiting, and argues that the next step is better coordination between police, Customs and IP offices, with training and technology for tracking and takedowns.
Teaching and writing. He explains how he tailors talks for academic and industry audiences and sees writing as a bridge between practice and academia.
