India Business Law Journal (IBLJ) has named Vikrant Rana, Managing Partner of S.S. Rana & Co., in The India A-List 2026, its annual list of India’s most highly recommended private practice lawyers. His listed practice areas are data protection, intellectual property, licensing and franchising, and litigation. This is his fourth appearance on the A-List, following the 2022, 2023-24 and 2024-25 editions. Official profile.

About The India A-List
The India A-List is published each year by India Business Law Journal and is hosted on Law.asia. The 2026 edition was published on 20 January 2026 and is based on more than 5,000 nominations and testimonials received from around the world for Indian lawyers.
Who nominates. In September 2025, IBLJ invited thousands of in-house counsel in India and abroad, as well as India-focused partners at international law firms, to nominate outstanding Indian lawyers. Members of IBLJ’s Editorial Board also nominated lawyers they felt deserved a place on the list.
Who cannot nominate. Lawyers working at Indian law firms are not permitted to make nominations, which keeps the list focused on the views of clients and international peers.
No fee to enter. All Indian private practice lawyers at Indian law firms are automatically eligible, and IBLJ states that there are no fees or other requirements for entry. Senior counsel and independent chambers are not included.
How the final list is chosen. The final list combines the nominations and references received with background research by IBLJ’s editorial team, which draws on more than 50 years of collective experience covering India’s legal market. Read the methodology.
What inclusion on the A-List means
The A-List is a capped list, so IBLJ itself notes that many outstanding lawyers are not included and that the list should be read as a snapshot of the lawyers who received the strongest endorsements from clients and peers at a particular time, rather than a complete roster of leading lawyers. Featured lawyers are grouped as A-List lawyers, with those who are partners at firms recognised in IBLJ’s top tier of Law Firm Awards also designated as Vanguards.
For clients, inclusion is an independent signal that a lawyer has been recommended by in-house counsel and international peers who have worked with them. Repeated inclusion across several editions, as in Vikrant Rana’s case, is a stronger indicator than a single listing.
