S.S. Rana & Co. has received the Best Legal Team: Insolvency & Bankruptcy award at the 7th Annual Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code: Conference and Awards 2026 (Delhi Edition), organised by Achromic Point at Hotel Shangri-La, New Delhi, on 23 May 2026. Nihit Nagpal, Associate Partner, Dispute Resolution, received the award on behalf of the firm.
About the Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code
Achromic Point organises an annual conference and awards on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, with separate editions in New Delhi and Mumbai. The Indian Lawyers Association was Strategic Partner for the 2026 Delhi Edition.
Who it brings together. The Delhi conference brought together insolvency professionals, senior advocates, restructuring experts, resolution professionals, bankers and corporate leaders.
What it covers. Sessions covered landmark developments under the Code, restructuring and resolution strategies, emerging litigation trends, regulatory and policy questions, and practical perspectives from the industry.
The awards. Alongside the sessions, Achromic Point presents awards to law firms, legal teams, advisory firms and individuals for their work in insolvency and restructuring.
What the award recognises
The award recognises the team behind S.S. Rana & Co.’s insolvency and bankruptcy work, part of its dispute resolution practice:
A team that acts for every stakeholder. The team represents financial and operational creditors, corporate debtors, resolution applicants, homebuyers and other stakeholders in proceedings under the Code.
Litigation depth. Insolvency work draws on the firm’s wider dispute resolution team, which resolved more than 200 disputes across practice areas in financial year 2025-26, and on the firm’s standing as an Advocate on Record firm with the Supreme Court of India.
IP expertise in insolvency. The team brings the firm’s IP experience to insolvency matters, advising on the valuation, licensing, transfer and realisation of trademarks and other intangible assets of a corporate debtor.
Writing that tracks the Code. The team writes regularly on IBC developments, including the reach of Section 18 of the Limitation Act, personal guarantor insolvency, cheque bounce cases during the moratorium and trademarks as insolvency assets.
The Code at ten, and the 2026 amendments
The Delhi conference took place days before a milestone: according to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 completed ten years since its enactment on 28 May 2026. Over that decade, the Code has replaced a fragmented recovery regime with a single, time-bound, creditor-driven process, with the National Company Law Tribunal as adjudicating authority.
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Amendment) Act, 2026 is the latest step. The Department of Financial Services has said the amendments on group insolvency, cross-border cases and creditor-initiated processes are aimed at addressing delays and improving resolution efficiency, while noting that capacity constraints and protracted litigation remain challenges.
