S.S. Rana & Co. has received the Boutique Insolvency Law Firm of the Year award at the 8th Annual Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code: Conference and Awards 2026, organised by Achromic Point at The Orchid Hotel, Vile Parle, Mumbai, on 27 June 2026. Nihit Nagpal, Associate Partner, Dispute Resolution, received the award on behalf of the firm.
About the Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code
Achromic Point organises an annual conference and awards on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, held in editions in Mumbai and New Delhi. The 2026 Mumbai edition was the eighth.
Who it brings together. The conference draws insolvency professionals, lawyers, bankers, restructuring advisers, resolution professionals and corporate leaders working under the Code.
What it covers. Panels in 2026 looked at the evolving insolvency and restructuring landscape and the next phase of the Code, including regulatory reform, institutional strengthening and the role of each stakeholder in making resolution more efficient and predictable.
The awards. Alongside the sessions, Achromic Point presents awards recognising law firms, advisory firms and individuals for their work in insolvency and restructuring.
What the award recognises
The award recognises S.S. Rana & Co.’s insolvency and restructuring practice, which sits within its dispute resolution team:
Every side of the process. The firm represents financial and operational creditors, corporate debtors, resolution applicants, homebuyers and other stakeholders in corporate insolvency resolution and liquidation proceedings under the Code.
Through the tribunals and courts. Insolvency proceedings run from the National Company Law Tribunal through the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal to the Supreme Court of India, where the firm is registered as an Advocate on Record.
Where insolvency meets IP. As a firm with a deep IP practice, it advises on the treatment of trademarks and other IP as assets in insolvency, including valuation, licensing, transfer and realisation, and the need for parallel action on foreign registrations.
Thought leadership on the Code. Its lawyers write regularly on insolvency law, including the application of Section 18 of the Limitation Act to IBC proceedings, the insolvency of personal guarantors, the interplay between cheque bounce cases and the moratorium, and trademarks as assets in insolvency. On Mondaq, the firm’s writing is most popular in the Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring topic.
Insolvency in India: ten years of the Code
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 consolidated India’s insolvency laws into a single, time-bound process for companies, partnerships and individuals. Corporate insolvency resolution is handled by the National Company Law Tribunal as the adjudicating authority, with appeals to the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and the Supreme Court, and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India regulates insolvency professionals and processes.
As the Code completes a decade, attention has turned to faster resolution, cross-border insolvency, pre-packaged schemes and the treatment of intangible assets.

It is an annual conference and awards event organised by Achromic Point that brings together insolvency professionals, lawyers, bankers, restructuring advisers and corporate leaders to discuss developments under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The 2026 Mumbai edition was the eighth.
The firm represents financial and operational creditors, corporate debtors, resolution applicants, homebuyers and other stakeholders in proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
Trademarks form part of the corporate debtor’s estate. They need careful valuation, licensing, transfer and dispute resolution during insolvency to preserve their value, and foreign registrations need parallel action abroad because Indian proceedings do not by themselves extend to them.
