About the Mondaq Thought Leadership Awards

Intellectual Property: first place. In Trade Mark Toss-Up: Dhoni Takes Guard In India’s Celebrity Intellectual Property Game (8 October 2025), Ananyaa Banerjee and Mandeep Singh follow M.S. Dhoni’s application to register CAPTAIN COOL as a trade mark in Class 41 for sports training and coaching services. The article tracks the application through examination at the Trade Marks Registry in Kolkata, the citation of an earlier identical mark, Dhoni’s rectification application and the opposition filed after advertisement. Energy and Natural Resources: third place. In India’s Carbon Credit Market: From Compliance To ESG Advantage (19 December 2025), Apalka Bareja and Aishwarya Rajput explain the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme set up under the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2022. They cover the role of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, the greenhouse gas emission intensity targets set for large industrial companies in 2025, the disclosure and greenwashing risks for listed companies, and the pressure on Indian exporters from the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
