Process of design registration:
There are two types of design registration procedures, explicit filing which will be published in the Official TM Gazette and implicit filing which does not get published. Each type is subject to the prescribed fees based on content and wordings included of the design.
Required Documents:
Documents that must be filed along with design application:
1. Name, address and nationality of the applicant(s) and the creator(s); a list of the home and/or foreign applications stating: country of filing; application number(s) and filing date(s); publication number and date (if any);
2. English description and drawings of the design illustrating the design from various views (Front View, Rear View, Left Side View, Right Side View, Top View, Bottom View, and Perspective View).
3. Arabic translation of the description and drawings. Our team of in-house translators will prepare the necessary Arabic translation.
Documents that may be filed belatedly:
4. A Power of Attorney with the full name and address of the applicant, duly notarized and legalized up to the Lebanese Consulate. In case of emergency, we may file the application with a simply signed power of attorney, provided that another legalized power is filed within 2 months.
5. A Deed of Assignment executed by the creator(s) assigning design rights to the applicant, duly notarized and legalized up to the Lebanese Consulate (not required if the applicant is the creator himself).
6. A certified copy of the priority document together with simple English translation (if applicable), if the applicant is claiming priority on the basis of a foreign application.
Time Frame:
Average time frame to complete registration of a design is 6 months.
Multiple Designs:
It is possible to file multiple designs in one application.
